William L. Welch Obituary
    William L. Welch of Surprise, Ariz., passed away peacefully during the last week of January.
    Born on July 7, 1930, to Margaret (Hughes) and Loren William Welch of Lisbon, N.H, Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia, and cherished son, Loren.
    He is survived by his son Matthew and daughter-in-law Shelly, and grandchildren Ryan and Julia of Minneapolis, Minn.; another granddaughter, Erin Jean, makes her home in San Antonio, Texas; loving brothers and sisters, John of Madison, Ala., Segrid of Marlborough, N.H., Leslie of South Sutton, N.H., and Rachel of Lisbon, N.H.
    After graduating from Lisbon High School in 1947, Bill joined the U.S. Air Force and he and his family traveled the world, including tours in Germany and Japan. He was honorably discharged in 1977 with many awards for his contributions to U.S. Intelligence through his expertise in computers and communications. Afterward, he held civil service positions in Colorado Springs, Colo., and San Antonio, Texas. In 1995, he retired to Surprise, Ariz., where he enjoyed the warmth, sunshine and many nearby golf courses. Ever adventuresome, he and Pat crisscrossed North America in their SUV several times, visiting family and military friends wherever they went.
    He was a quiet and serious man, studious, smart, and responsible and fastidious in all that he undertook. A good husband, father and friend, his love, generous spirit and gentle humor will be deeply missed.
