Stephen R. Filibeck, 55, of Stephenson, Mich., passed away on Friday, September 10, 2010, at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born on October 31, 1954, in Banat, Mich. to Frank and Sarella (Swille) Filibeck.
On April 17, 2006, Steve married Heidi Kruhmin in Menominee, Mich. Steve was employed as a custodian for the Michigan State Police Post in Stephenson, Mich. He enjoyed being outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed spending time at home, family get togethers, going to camp, and Sprint Car Racing. Most importantly, Steve will be remembered as a loving husband and father. Survivors include his wife, Heidi of Stephenson; father, Frank Filibeck of Wallace; two daughters: Laura (Brian) Beal of Ingalls and Lisa (Dan LaPlant) Filibeck of DePere; two stepdaughters: Samantha and Olivia Zahorik of Green Bay; stepson, Jacob Zahorik at home; two grandchildren: Aiden and Lucas; two sisters: Karen (Guy) Bottkol of Wallace and Kelly (Al) Wery of Daggett; one brother, Fred (Sally) of Menominee; nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Sarella.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home on Monday, September 13, 2010, from 3 till 8 p.m. with Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Precious Blood Catholic Church. Father Corey Litzner officiating.
Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Banat.
