      CARL SCHIRADO DIES SUDDENLY

Funeral services will be Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic church in Glen Ullin for Carl M. Schirado, 53, Glen Ullin, who died unexpectedly Monday night.
Mr. Schirado, a serviceman for Montana-Dakota Utilities Co., died enroute to a Bismarck hospital after suffering a heart attack in a bowling alley earlier in the evening.
Fr. Floian Fairbanks will officiate at the funeral mass and burial will be in the Sacred Heart cemetary. Pallbearers wil be D. L. Correll, Gottlieb Metzner, Larry Mormann, A. L. Tavis, Clairmont Meisner and John Mormann. Members of the Lawrence Higbe post American Legionm, will attedn the service in a body.
Mr. Schirado was born in Glen Ullin March 3, 1909, the son of John Schirado and Theresa Filibeck Schirado. He was educated in the Glen Ullin Schools. He served inthe US army during World War II from 1944 to 1046 and received the Godd conduct medal, Victory medal, American Theatre medal and the Pacific Theatre medal.
He was married to Bessie Bulla more, May 8 1937, at Lansing, MI. She survives as does a daughter, Diane, at home. He also leaves the following brother and sisters: Leo Schirado, Mrs. Nick Kastner and Ervin Schirado, all of Lansing, MI, Victor Schirado of Richland, WA, Mrs. Urban Wehri and Ernest Schirado of Glen Ullin, John Schirado, Jr. and George Schirado of Bismarck. Two brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Schirado was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin.

Medical: Died in his car at New Salem, ND, of a heart attack.

On 18 May 1937 when Carl Martin was 28, he married Bessie Bullamore, daughter of Sidney Albert Bullamore (25 Aug 1878-25 Feb 1929) & Mary Aileen Dietsche (1 Dec 1878-11 Nov 1934), in St. Casimir's Church, Lansing, MI. Born on 31 Dec 1918 in Glen Ullin, Morton Co., ND. Bessie died in Glen Ullin, Morton Co., ND, on 2 Oct 2008; she was 89.

      Rose A. Kastner Grand Ledge Rose A. Kastner, 99, died peacefully on April 13, 2010. She was born in the farming-ranching community of Glen Ullin, ND, daughter of the late John and Theresa Schirado and the 2nd oldest of 12 children. Rose married Nick Kastner in 1932 and they moved to Lansing, MI in 1934, where they became longstanding members of the St. Casimir Church.
      She was a member of the Altar Society and the Lansing Catholic Women's Guild. She enjoyed traveling with her husband of 52 years, dancing, listening to music, playing volleyball, gardening, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. She worked in local food service and retired as a supervisor from the MSU Laundry Service.
      Rose was preceded in death by her husband Nick in 1984 and her son Gerald in 2000; also her brothers Joseph, William, Carl, Victor, Leo, John, Ervin, Ernest and George, and brother-in-law Urban Wehri, and sisters-in-law, Bessie Rhodenbaugh and Helen Schirado. She is survived by daughters Margean (Roy Tamashiro) Kastner of St. Louis, MO, Sharon Beers of Grand Ledge and by Gordon Beers of Lansing; sister Eleanor Wehri of Glenn Ullin, ND, and brother Nick (Vivian) Schirado of Bismark, ND; sisters-in-law Joyce Velasquez of Lansing, Eva Schirado of Richland, WA, and Eunice Schirado of Glen Ullin, ND; six grandchildren: Suzanne, John (Susan), Mark, Theresa (Dean), Nancy, and Christine; 12 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Tara, Aaron (Ashley), Heather, Kiley, Ethan, Josie, Amelia, Thomas, Maura, Rachel and Alex; one great great-grandson Aajay, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
      The family would like to thank her special caregivers Barbara and Joseph Frazier and all the staff of Fairview AFC, and Great Lakes Hospice for their kind attention and loving care.
      The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 17, 2010 - 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 345 Edwards St., Grand Ledge, MI, with Fr. James Eisele as celebrant. The funeral luncheon will immediately follow. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, 301 E. Jefferson St., Grand Ledge on Friday, April 16, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and one hour before the funeral at the church.       Helen Roberta Schirado Lansing Helen Roberta (Herrick) Schirado was born October 3, 1913 in Olivet, Michigan to Francis and Harriet (Van Geison) Herrick. She passed away Thursday, April 1, 2010 at her home in Lansing.
      She attended Olivet College and married Leo A. Schirado February 14, 1942 at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Lansing. Helen was a devoted mother and wife. During her lifetime she volunteered with the Red Cross, at her children's schools and at Church of the Resurrection. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and being with her family. After retirement, she and her husband were "happy snowbirds" spending winters in Tucson, Arizona.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brothers George, Merle (Short) and Leo (Bill) Herrick. She is lovingly remembered by her sons: Robert L. (Bobbi) Schirado of Sparta; Dr. William C. Schirado of Kalamazoo; and, Craig P. Schirado of Lansing: grandsons; Mathew S. Schirado of Rockford; Micah R. Schirado of Houston, TX; and Ian M. Schirado of Kalamazoo: brother-in-law Nick (Vivien) Schirado of Bismarck, ND: sisters-in law: Rose Kastner of Grand Ledge, MI; Eva Schirado of Richland, WA; Joyce (Joe) Velasquez of Lansing, MI; Eleanor Wehri of Glen Ullin, ND; and Eunice Schirado of Glen Ullin, ND: Special nieces: Sharon Beers of Grand Ledge, MI; and Jane (Tom Hart) of Grand Ledge, MI: Many other nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and her spiritual families at Church of the Resurrection and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

      John Joseph Schirado, Jr., 79, Glen Ullin, North Dakota, died August 7, 2003, at a Glen Ullin care center.
      Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:30 AM at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with the Rev. Paul Becker officiating. Burial will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery.
      Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 ? 9:00 PM at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
      John was born on February 11, 1924, in Oliver County, north of Glen Ullin, the son of John M. Schirado, Sr. and Theresa (Filibeck) Schirado. He was raised and attended school in Glen Ullin. John farmed with his family until he entered the Army. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Glen Ullin area until moving to Bismarck in 1948. John married Verda Buelow. He began working for Montana-Dakota Utilities in 1951 and retired in 1979.
      He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, pinochle, dancing, and country western music. He was a member of Church of Corpus Christi, the Moose, the Eagles, the VFW, and the American Legion.
      He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Judy Schirado of Mandan, and Steve and Mary Schirado of Boise, Idaho; three daughters and one son-in-law, Cheryl Nelson of Mandan, Deb Holcomb of Loveland, Colorado, and Mary and Kurt Leben of Bismarck; twelve grandchildren, Raymond (Aimee) Schirado, Kathryn Schirado, Jenny (Mike) Fergel, Kimberly Nelson, David (Kelli) Schirado, Jessica (Brian) Morastica, Jeff Schirado, Joshua Holcomb, Jeremy Holcomb, Cole Leben, Stephanie Leben, and Jessie Leben; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Nick and Vivian Schirado of Bismarck, Ernest and Eunice Schirado of Glen Ullin, and George Schirado of Glen Ullin; and two sisters, Eleanor Wehri of Glen Ullin, and Rose Kastner of Michigan.

Ernest J. Schirado, age 77 of rural Glen Ullin died Friday, April 14, 2006 at his farm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 17, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Central Time at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Reverend Sebastian Schmidt as Celebrant.       Ernie was born August 5, 1928 on the family farm Northeast of Glen Ullin the son of John and Theresa (Filibeck)Schirado. He was raised on the farm and educated in country school. He married Eunice Sebastian on October 10, 1951 at St. Clement’s Church. Following marriage they made their home on his family farm where they raised their family. They also raised cattle and small grains which helped fund his passion for raising quarter horses. Family was most important to Ernie, not only did they work together as a family, but spent many summer weekends participating in rodeos with his family. He served his community by being involved in the Morton County Sheriff’s Posse, Board member of the Glen Ullin Fire Protection, Glen Ullin Weigh Scale Assn, American Quarter Horse Assn, the Stark-Morton Saddle Club, a past president of the Curlew Telephone Cooperative, was a long time member of the Sacred Heart Choir District, and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, was a past Faithful Navigator, and in 1990 was chosen Family of the Year for North Dakota.
      Blessed for having shared in his life are his wife, Eunice, Glen Ullin; his sons: Rick (Wanda),Denver, Co; Allen (Marjorie), Bismarck, ND; Timothy (Lori), Menoken, ND; Bruce (Heidi), Bismarck, ND; Russell (Holly), Menoken, ND; Bryan (Michelle), Harrisburg, SD; Kyle (Mitzi), Granby, CO; his daughters: Lynnette, Glen Ullin, ND; and Corrine (Les) Vatnsdal, Minot, ND.
