Ernstausen and Klek are less than 10 miles from each other. They’re now in Serbia near the border with Romania, about 40 north of Beograd, Serbia, and about 30 miles southwest of Timisoara, Romania.

On Jan. 14, 1946, she married Martin Hoerner at Sacred Heart, Glen Ullin. She worked at the Rowen Cafe until 1962, when her interest turned toward helping the elderly keep their homes clean. Katherine enjoyed her hobbies of fishing and playing Whist and Pinocle. She entered the Marian Manor in October 2003, where she has resided since. She leaves her son and daughter-in-law Martin and Gloria Hoerner, Dickinson; three grandchildren, Mark (Heather) Hoerner, Catrina Hoerner and Jennifer Hoerner; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Voegele, Mandan, Lena Sorenson, Yuma, Ariz., and Jenny Karlin, Cool, Calif.; and her four brothers, Richard, Harry, Clinton and Mike Schirado, all of Glen Ullin. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Eugene; her sister, Joan; and two brothers, Tony and Lester. Katherine married M. Hoerner (Private), son of Heronymous Hoerner (3 Jan 1886-11 Jul 1956) & Margaretha Hegel (3 Jan 1884-).
