Ernstausen and Klek are less than 10 miles from each other. They’re now in Serbia near the border with Romania, about 40 north of Beograd, Serbia, and about 30 miles southwest of Timisoara, Romania.

      GLEN ULLIN -- Katherine Hoerner, 80, Glen Ullin died Dec. 12, 2004, at a Bismarck hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Sebastian Schmidt OSB officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Glen Ullin.
      Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the church, where wake services will be held at 7 p.m.
      Katherine was born May 31, 1924, on the family farm north of Glen Ullin, the daughter of Anton and Katie (Rausch) Schirado. She was raised on the farm and educated in rural school. In her early days she worked for the neighbors. Katherine served as a midwife for many years when children were being born at home. On Jan. 14, 1946, she married Martin Hoerner at Sacred Heart, Glen Ullin. She worked at the Rowen Cafe until 1962, when her interest turned toward helping the elderly keep their homes clean. Katherine enjoyed her hobbies of fishing and playing Whist and Pinocle. She entered the Marian Manor in October 2003, where she has resided since.
      She leaves her son and daughter-in-law Martin and Gloria Hoerner, Dickinson; three grandchildren, Mark (Heather) Hoerner, Catrina Hoerner and Jennifer Hoerner; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pearl Voegele, Mandan, Lena Sorenson, Yuma, Ariz., and Jenny Karlin, Cool, Calif.; and her four brothers, Richard, Harry, Clinton and Mike Schirado, all of Glen Ullin.
      She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Eugene; her sister, Joan; and two brothers, Tony and Lester.

Katherine married M. Hoerner (Private), son of Heronymous Hoerner (3 Jan 1886-11 Jul 1956) & Margaretha Hegel (3 Jan 1884-).
