2745. Henry Plantagenet Duke of Normandy. Born on 28 Feb 1155 in Bermondsey. Henry died in 1183 in Martel.

Henry, Duke of Normandy, Count of Anjou, was the chosen successor of King Henry II, but predeceased his father.

In 1172 Henry married Marguerite of France Comtesse de Vexin (2401) , daughter of King Louis VII of France (1905) (ca 1120-18 Sep 1180) & Constanza of Castile & León (2367) (ca 1141-4 Oct 1160). Born ca 1158. Marguerite died in 1197 in Acre.

2746. Matilda Plantagenet. Born in Jun 1156 in London, England. Matilda died on 6 Aug 1195.

On 1 Feb 1168 Matilda married Duke Heinrich XII of Bavaria (2346) , son of Duke Heinrich X of Bavaria (1856) (ca 1108-20 Oct 1139) & Gertrud (ca 1115-18 Apr 1143), in Minden. Born ca 1129. Heinrich XII died on 6 Aug 1195 in Braunschweig.

Heinrich "der Löwe", Duke of Saxony (1142-1180), and as Heinrich XII Duke of Bavaria (1147-1180).

2747. King Richard I of England. Born on 8 Sep 1157 in Beaumont Palace, Oxford. Richard I died in Castle of Chalus, Aquitaine, on 6 Apr 1199; he was 41. Buried in Abbey, Fontevrault.

Richard I, called Coeur de Lion, the Lion-Hearted, king of England (1189-1199), also duke of Aquitaine and Normandy, and Count of Anjou (1189-1199). He succeeded his father Henry II and was succeeded by his brother John. He died of a wound received while besieging Châlus.

In 1191 Richard I married Berenguela de Navarre (2832) , daughter of King Sancho VI Garcés of Navarre (2640) (ca 1132-27 Jun 1194) & Sancha de Castile (2366) (ca 1137-4 Aug 1177), in Lemassol, Cyprus. Berenguela died aft 1230 in Le Mans, France.

2748. Duc Geoffrey de Bretagne. Born on 23 Sep 1158. Geoffrey died ca 1186 in Paris, France.

Geoffrey was killed in a tournament at Paris.

ca 1181 Geoffrey married Constance de Richemont Duchess de Bretagne (2690) , daughter of Duc Conan IV de Bretagne (2201) (ca 1138-20 Feb 1177) & Marguarite of Huntington (2451) (ca 1154-1201). Born ca 1161. Constance died on 5 Sep 1201. Buried in Villeneuve-lez-Nantes.

2749. Joan Plantagenet. Born ca 1165 in Angers. Joan died on 4 Sep 1199.

On 13 Feb 1177 Joan first married Kint Guglielmo II of Sicily in Palermo. Guglielmo II died on 16 Nov 1189.

In 1196 Joan second married Comte Raimund VI de Toulouse (2428) , son of Comte Raimund V de Toulouse (1995) (ca 1134-1194) & Constance of France (1911) (ca 1124-16 Aug 1176), in Rouen. Born on 27 Oct 1156 in Languedoc. Raimund VI died in Toulouse on 2 Aug 1222; he was 65.

2750. Eleanor of England. Born on 13 Oct 1162 in Falais, Calvados, France. Eleanor died in Burgos, Spain, on 25 Oct 1214; she was 52.

On 22 Sep 1177 when Eleanor was 14, she married King Alfonso VIII of Castile (2823) , son of King Sancho III of Castile (2361) (ca 1134-31 Aug 1158) & Blanche Garcés of Navarre (2641) (ca 1134-12 Aug 1156), in Burgos. Born on 11 Nov 1155 in Soria. Alfonso VIII died in near Avevalo, on 6 Aug 1214; he was 58.

Alfonso VIII, the Noble, King of Castile (1158-1214), succeeded his father Sancho III.

John “Lackland”, King of England and Count of Anjou (1199-1216), succeeded his brother Richard I.

On 29 Aug 1189 when John was 21, he first married Isabel de Clare Countess of Gloucester (2793) , daughter of William fitz Robert Earl of Gloucester (2476) (-23 Nov 1183) & Hawise de Beaumont (2320) (ca 1130/1134-24 Apr 1197), in Marlebridge. Born ca 1170. Isabel died in Nov 1217. Marriage was annulled 1199/1200.

They had no children.

On 24 Jun 1200 when John was 32, he second married Isabel Taillifer d’ Angoulême (2893) , daughter of Comte Aymar III d’ Angoulême (2503) (ca 1160-16 Jun 1202) & Alix de Courtenay (2419) (ca 1160-14 Sep 1218), in Bordeaux, Gironde, France. Born ca 1186/1188. Isabel Taillifer died on 31 May 1246 in Fontevrault. Buried in Fontrevault Abbey, Maine-et-Loire.

In 1244 Isabel may have attempted to have King Louis IX of France assassinated. She fled to Fontevraud convent where she took the veil.
