Pane-Joyce Genealogy
2581. Roger Buck. Born ca 1617 in England. Roger died in Woburn, MA on 10 Nov 1693.124

From Harvey’s Genealogy of the Buck Family:
Roger came from England with his father in 1635 and settled in Cambridge in 1643. The town granted to Roger lot No. 5 (10 acres) of the Cambridge Survey. This also butted on the Winthrop farm and on the stream separating Cambridge from Woburn. Roger seems to have been illiterate, for in 1668 he made "his mark" to a petition to the General Court. He followed the occupation of his father in connection with farming. For some time he served as town executioner, as appears by entries in the town records, one of which states that he is order to inflict twenty lashes on the back of a culprit in 1668. In the spring of 1665, on the death of his wife Susanna, he removed to Woburn. In 1688, upon the death of Susanna, he sold part of the homestead of his father to his son-in-law, Thomas Baverick, on condition that if the latter should sell the same, Roger's son Ephraim should have the preference as purchaser. Susannah was buried at Cambridge.
10-19-1664: A petition of the inhabitants of Cambridge sent to the General Court of "Massachusetts Colinie" a charter to "petition His Majesty for his royal favour in the continuance of the present establishment of all privileges thereof and that we may not be subjected to the arbitrary power of any who are not chosen by this people according to their patent" , was signed by Roger.
Attached to this is a similar petition signed by the same members of the "train band and single men who desire to manifest themselves of the same mind with our parents, masters and the aged men and householders of the peace."
Among the signers is the name of Samuel Buck
