George was one of the original purchasers of Dartmouth in 1652. Epitaph: ‘Here lyes ye Body of Deacon George Morton, who Decd August ye 2nd, 1727, in ye 82d year of his Age.’157
“Just at the summit of Burial Hill, and at a point to which the long flight of steps going up from the town naturally leads the visitor, is a row of four stones, made of slate, marking the graves of Deacon George Morton, his youngest son Thomas, his wife Joanna, and his brother Ephraim. That of George Morton has been bound in metal to preserve it from the effects of the weather, and to prevent its being broken by thoughtless persons who desire relics of this interesting spot.”157

On 22 Dec 1664 George married Joanna Kempton, daughter of Ephraim Kempton (18 Mar 1620/1-24 Jun 1655) & Joanna Rawlins (ca 1624-31 Mar 1656), in Plymouth, MA.3 Born ca 1645. Joanna was baptized in Scituate, MA, on 9 Nov 1645.417,121 Joanna died in Jun 1728.417 Buried in Burial Hill, Plymouth.

Epitaph: ‘Here lyes ye Body of Mrs. Joanna, wife to Deacon Morton, who decd June ye —, 1728, in ye 83 year of her age.’157

Rebecca married Samuel Wood, son of Henry Wood (ca 1594-29 Oct 1670) & Abigail Jenny (16 Apr 1619-ca 1690). Born on 25 May 1648 in Plymouth, MA.3 Samuel died in Middleboro, MA, on 3 Feb 1717/8; he was 69.

Samuel, of Middleboro, m. before 1679 Rebecca. Their children: Henry, Ephraim, Samuel; Jabez, m. Mercy Fuller; Joanna, m. a Smith; Rebecca, m. a Smith; Ann, and Susanna.182

Josiah married Susanna Wood, daughter of Henry Wood (ca 1594-29 Oct 1670) & Abigail Jenny (16 Apr 1619-ca 1690). Born ca 1660.

Susanna Wood, or Ward, of Middleborough. Susanna, widowed, married second Deacon Clark.157

11410. Lieut. Nathaniel Morton. Nathaniel died on 7 Jul 1709 in Plymouth, MA.26 “Leftenant Nathaniel Morton Deceased July: 7^th: 1709 after about 17 weks Confinement & Indured aboundance of paine with wonderfull patience Lived Desired and Dyed Lamented”.

“Nathaniel Morton died leaving only one child named Nath’l who died when young leaving only one child whose name was Nathaniel who was the father of the present Mrs. Rebecca Davis, wife of Wm. Davis.” [Thomas Morton, of Plymouth, writing in 1807.]157

On 21 Feb 1706 Nathaniel married Mary Faunce (24183) , daughter of Joseph Faunce (11390) (14 May 1653-18 Jan 1728) & Judith Rickard (11742) (ca 1657-).161 Born on 2 Jun 1681 in Plymouth, MA.26 Mary died on 31 May 1761; she was 79.161

On 23 Apr 1708 Mercy married Henry Rickard (11745) , son of Giles Rickard (3667) (-29 Jan 1709/10) & Hannah Dunham (ca 1634-1 Apr 1708), in Plympton, MA. Born ca 1667 in Plymouth, MA. Henry died on 17 Sep 1726 in Plympton, MA.223

11413. Thomas Morton. Born ca 1667 in Plymouth, MA.24 Thomas died bef 12 Sep 1748.281

Thomas resided in Plymouth and was noted for his integrity. He was a town officer for many years.157

Thomas’s will, dated 23 Dec 1696, proved 12 Sep 1748, mentions wife Martha, graddaughters Bethsuah and Marrtha daughters of son Thomas deceased, sons Lemuell and Nathaniel, two unnamed granddaughters who were daughters of his deceased daughter Lydia Bartlett, and daughters Sarah Bartlett and Mary Nelson. Executers: wife Martha and sons Lemuel and Nathaniel.

On 23 Dec 1696 Thomas married Martha Doty (11684) , daughter of Edward Doty (3653) (by 1637-8 Feb 1689/90) & Sarah Faunce (11386) (ca 1645-27 Jun 1695), in Plymouth, MA.24 Born on 9 Jul 1671 in Plymouth, MA.26 Martha died between 26 Aug 1741 and 12 Sep 1748.

Thomas and Martha were first cousins once removed; her grandmother, Patience Morton, and his father, Ephraim Morton, were siblings.

John died in Plymouth, MA, on 29 Apr 1697; he was 49.26 “John Nelson deceased on the 29^th of Aprill 1697, being Entred into the 54^th yeare of His age”.

John was one of the propietors of Middleborough.
