Richard Borden’s will, quitclaim dated 1 Aug 1692, of Providence, eldest son of Thomas Borden of Providence deceased, mentions grandparents Richard and Joan Borden of Portsmouth; father Thomas Borden of Providence deceased; uncles Mathew and John Borden of Portsmouth, and Francis Borden of Shrewsbury; refers to testimony of witnesses and grandmother to oral will of grandfather approved by Town Council 31 May 1671.248

Joseph’s body was found in the Nansquatucket River December 30, 1713. His widow presented an inventory of his property to the Town Council, and was appointed administratrix of his estate and guardian of his child.
On 12 Sep 1712 when Joseph was 42, he married Margery Whipple.105
