The member list for the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck, about Feb 1734, lists the family group: Thomas Gerter, Margertha his wife, Elisabetha his sister, Johanneta, Elisabeth [probably meant to be Annatje], Catharina, Elisabetha, Jacob, and Anna.

The family name was variously spelled Carter, Gerter, Kerrer, Kater, Carteret, Ketters, Gertser, Kaerter, Garter, Karter, Keerter, and Kerter.

Thomas was a witness at the 1717 baptism of Katharina, daughter of Leonhard Rees and Volkje Hardick.

Thomas and Margareta were witnesses at several baptisms:
    1719 for Cornelius, son of Ephraim & Margareta Rees;
    1720 for Cornelius, son of Ephraim Roest & Margareta;
    1730 for Lisabeth, daughter of Hans Jurgen & Catharina Raw (Rau) (although Thomas was absent); and
    1734 for Jonathan, son of Jonathan Rees & Sarah Hardick (on the same day Jonathan and Sara were witnesses for Thomas and Margareta’s daughter Lea).
