Marriage Record of Rev. Justus Falckner471
23 Nov 1718 at Lonenburg. Thomas Carter, y.m., at Klaverack, and Margareta Dornerin, y.d.
[duplicate] 27 Dec 1718 at my lodgings at Lonenburg: Thomas Carter and Margareta Dornerin.
The member list for the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Rhinebeck, about Feb 1734, lists the family group: Thomas Gerter, Margertha his wife, Elisabetha his sister, Johanneta, Elisabeth [probably meant to be Annatje], Catharina, Elisabetha, Jacob, and Anna.
The family name was variously spelled Carter, Gerter, Kerrer, Kater, Carteret, Ketters, Gertser, Kaerter, Garter, Karter, Keerter, and Kerter.
Thomas was a witness at the 1717 baptism of Katharina, daughter of Leonhard Rees and Volkje Hardick.
Thomas and Margareta were witnesses at several baptisms:
1719 for Cornelius, son of Ephraim & Margareta Rees;
1720 for Cornelius, son of Ephraim Roest & Margareta;
1730 for Lisabeth, daughter of Hans Jurgen & Catharina Raw (Rau) (although Thomas was absent); and
1734 for Jonathan, son of Jonathan Rees & Sarah Hardick (on the same day Jonathan and Sara were witnesses for Thomas and Margareta’s daughter Lea).
A Tames Carter (likely this one) was a witness at the 1707 Albany baptism of Franciscus, son of John Hardinks and Maria Bekker.156
