    (#88) William is referred to in History of Great Barrington, Mass., as 2nd William of Windsor, Ct., as owning a lot in Great Barrington in early settlement, but does not appear to have lived there. He owned a six acre lot opposite Joel Baldwin's, and this property appears to have gone into this family.
On 4 Jun 1739 when William was 41, he married Martha Holcomb (21864) , daughter of Cpl. Samuel Holcomb (29 Nov 1683-13 Aug 1722) & Martha Phelps (8107) (12 Nov 1688-).116 Born on 8 Nov 1722 in Poquonock, Windsor, CT.116 Martha died in Windsor, CT, on 12 Dec 1776; she was 54.

Martha and William were half second cousins; her maternal grandfather and his paternal grandfather were half-brothers.

    (#89) Lieut. Daniel Phelps, b. Poquonock, Ct., 21 March, 1701, d. Sept. 7, 1777, m. 9 Nov., 1728, Mindwell Buckland, (daughter of Nicholas (2) Buckland, of Thomas (1) Buckland of Windsor,) b. Windsor, Ct., 20 June, 1700, died there 21 Aug., 1775. Lieut. Phelps settled in Windsor, Ct. He served in the Revolutionary army in the 4th regiment of Light-horse under Maj Ebenezer Backus, Capt. Lathrop's company. He is referred to by Stiles as chasing a company of British cavalry through Danbury, then 76 years old, riding nearly twenty-four hours, and mourning on his return that he did not get a shot at one Britisher. He was so exhausted by this race that he died soon after.
    His will, probated at Hartford, Ct., is dated 15 March, 1749-50, and proved 4 Nov., 1777. Mentions his wife Miudwell, oldest son Daniel, Roger and Aaron, and daughters Mindwell and Eunice.
