24732. Jehiel Dayton. Born on 22 Dec 1737 in New Haven, CT.56 Jehiel died on 29 Apr 1759; he was 21.55 He died unmarried.

Jehiel lived in New Haven and in Farmington.377 He served during the French and Indian War in 1756 and 1759. He died in military service. His estate was distributed to his Clark half-brothers, his Dayton brothers, and his Dayton half-sister.488 He served in Capt. Israel Woodward’s 6th Co., 2nd Regt., Apr to Oct 1756. He enlisted in Capt. Joel Clark’s 4th Co., 2nd Regt. 24 Mar 1759.6

24734. Israel Dayton. Born on 30 Mar 1744 in New Haven, CT.56 Israel died in Southington, CT, on 21 Apr 1805; he was 61.55

Israel served during the French and Indian War every year from 1760 through 1764 and during the Revolution in 1775 and 1777 through 1781. Before the Revolution he lived in New Haven and Wallingford; after in Southington.488 He served in the French and Indian War, from Mar to Nov 1760 in Capt. Joel Clark’s 11th Co., 2nd Regt.; from Apr to Nov 1761 in Col. Nathan Whiting’s 1st Co., 2nd Regt.; from Mar to Nov 1762 in Capt. Eldad Lewis’s 7th Co., 2nd Regt.; and from Mar to Dec 1764 in Capt. Abraham Foote’s 2nd Co., Lieut.-Col. Putnam’s Battalion. In the Revolutionary War, he served in Capt. Isaac Cook’s Wallingford Co., 1775; was in the Conn. Line between 1777 and 1781, residence stated as New Haven. He was named as an artificer, and in a list of married soldiers about 1780.6
On 22 Oct 1786 when Israel was 42, he married Abiah Howell in Congregational Society, Cheshire.

Abiah was admitted to the Southington Congregational Church 29 Aug 1790.488 She was Israel’s second wife.6

Dinah probably died by 1759 as she did not share in the distribution her brother Jehiel’s estate.488

Samuel resided in Southington.377
On 11 Jun 1776 Samuel married Eunice Humiston, daughter of Samuel Humiston (27 Oct 1709-Oct 1788) & Elizabeth Alcott (31 Jul 1708-23 Jan 1782), in Second Congregational Society, New Haven.55
