Thomas was the first English child born in East Greenwich. He and Elizabeth resided there. Thomas was made freeman in 1703. He was a deputy to the General Court 20 years ranging from 1704 through 1750, and he was clerk of the assembly in 1720-21-27. In 1734-5 he was one of the Justices of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas of the county of Providence; in 1738 Speaker of the House of Deputies. Thomas was appointed 2 Dec 1741 a committee to represent and manage the affairs of the colony before the Commons, to hear and determine boundareis between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In Aug 1741 he and two others were appointed by the assembly to let off part of Warwick into a township to be called Coventry.49
