John and Rhoda had but one child, John, whose mother died not long after his birth.42

On 29 Mar 1733 when Lydia was 16, she married Dea. Joseph Cushing (35281) , son of Dea. Joseph Cushing (16820) (23 Sep 1677-12 Dec 1760) & Mary Pickles (20594) (May 1688-30 Nov 1711), in the Second Church of Scituate.52,110 Born on 21 Nov 1711 in Scituate, MA.52 Joseph died in Scituate, MA, on 2 Jan 1767; he was 55.52 Buried in South Parish Cemetery, Norwell. Education: Harvard 1731.2

Joseph graduated from Harvard College, for which he was prepared by his neighbor, Rev. Nathaniel Eells.42

Joseph was long employed as grammar master in Scituate, and prepared his own sons and several others for College. He was a justice of the peace, and a deacon of the Second Church of Scituate.2
