On 10 Apr 1744 Hannah married John Beard in Newbury, MA.136 They obtained a marriage license 24 Feb 1743/4 in Newburyport, MA. John Beard of Wilmington & Hannah Knight of Newbury.

John was of Wilmington when he married Hannah.136

It’s not clear when John was born or which Beard family of Wilmington John belonged to.
    There was (a) John Beard, b. ca. 1693, son of the immigrant Andrew Beard and his wife Hannah. He had a son (b) John, b. 1716, who lived to raise his own family, wife Hannah, and a son John, so neither of them fits. The immigrant, Andrew Beard who came from Scotland in 1672, had a couple of other sons who moved to Wilmington and one of them may have had a son John not recorded in the records, or perhaps one of the grandsons of Andrew whose birth was recorded under one name used the name John instead. Perhaps probate records might help.

From Isaac Smiths History of the Town of Hampstead, NH, for one hundred years, Haverhill MA, 1884:
    Joseph Stevens and John Beard were elected Hogreeves. [This was about 1749. A hogreeve was a civil officer charged with the duty of impounding hogs running at large.] If the custom then prevailed, as at the present time, of choosing the newly married to that office, we are led to infer that Joseph Stevens and John Beard had recently worshipped at the altar of Hymen. It is certainly a custom of long standing. Tlie office was not then, as now, a nominal one; its duties were often onerous. Perhaps the custom owes its origin to the playful desire upon the part of the community at large, to render this naturally embarrassing period of the newly wedded couple’s life, more embarrassing by thus drawing to the happy groom, the attention of the whole town. There may be something peculiar in matrimony itself, that renders him a suitable person to have charo'e of the swine running at large, and makes him emphatically “master of the ring.” Or, by ringing the nose of the unfortunate pig, he may see a foreboding of what is to be his own fate, unless he shall float down the stream of wedded life more safely than sometimes happens. The question will, probably never be settled upon strictly political principles.

On 6 Apr 1749 Ebenezer married Mehitable Simons, daughter of John Simons (14 Apr 1669-) & Elizabeth Harris, in Haverhill, MA.325 Born 25 Feb 1713/4 in Haverhill, MA.325

Ca 1744 Joshua married Mehitable Harriman, daughter of John Harriman (16 Jun 1688-) & Sarah Morrill (30 Jan 1688/9-), in Plaistow, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Born on 11 Dec 1721 in Haverhill, MA.325 Mehitable died in Hampstead, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, on 30 Mar 1812; she was 90.

12 Jan 1742/3 Lydia first married Oliver Clark (56027) , son of Thomas Clark (41080) (2 Sep 1692-11 Aug 1729) & Elizabeth Perkins (18 Mar 1691-), in Newbury, MA. Born on 6 Mar 1720 in Newbury, MA.136 Oliver died on 27 May 1765; he was 45.

In Aug 1771 Lydia second married Rev. Jonathan Parsons, son of Jonathan Parsons (8 Feb 1686/7-ca 1742) & Lydia Stanwood (2 Dec 1685-). Born on 24 Jul 1713 in Gloucester, MA.

21 Jan 1747/8 Joseph first married Ann Moody, daughter of Ezra Moody (11 Apr 1693-) & Martha Greenleaf (23 Apr 1699-), in Newbury, MA. Born 20 Feb 1724/5 in Newbury, MA. Ann died bef 1753.

On 6 Dec 1753 when Joseph was 31, he second married Sarah Plummer in Newbury, MA. Sarah died on 20 Oct 1814.

On 11 Jun 1763 John married Mehitable Adams (24255) , daughter of Abraham Adams (9316) (8 Jul 1696-May 1773) & Abigail Pierce (26 Jan 1701/2-), in Newbury, MA. Born in Nov 1734 in Newbury, MA.136 Mehitable died in Newbury, MA on 5 Feb 1820.
