42666.Snow Stetson. Born in Mar 1730 in Scituate, MA.284 Snow died in West Indies in 1759. Occupation: shipbuilder, captain.
From The Descendants of Cornet Robert Stetson:284
“Snow married a French lady named Dupee in Newport, R.I. and died in West Indies aged 17.” (Barry.)
He was a ship builder and a sea captain. In 1749 Ebenezer Stetson deased of Matthew Stetson “the ship yeard at Bald Hill,” and the same year his sons, Ebenezer, Jr. (aged 21) and Snow (aged 19) built a sizable vessel. An itemized account of the iron work is extant in an account book of Matthew Stetson.
Eighty years after Mr. Barry wrote of Snow’s marriage and death we find the following, which would seem to further account for Snow as well as the vessel he built at Bald Hill: “List of vessels insured by Timothy Orne Co. of Salem,” “1758” “Brigg. Success, Snow Stetson captain and owner” “Voyage to barbadoes” “Was taken.” (Essex Hist. Col., Vol. 31, p. 10.)
