On 30 Mar 1737 when John was 22, he married Ann Tennant, daughter of Daniel Tennant (ca 1685-3 Jun 1770) & Anne Greene.389 Born ca 1715 in Colchester, CT.

From the Rathbone Genealogy:389
    Ann, widow of John Rathbone, married second a Mr Randall, and “she with her family emigrated to Nova Scotia and took up and settled upon a tract of land on the Grand Pre, a low-loying, fertile plain containing some 3,000 acres, protected from the sea by a large dike. In 1869 this dike was broken during a very severe storm, but was restored at great expense. A portion of the lands taken up in 1758 and 1759 by Mrs. Ann Rathbone Randall and her family were in 1896 still owned and occupied by some of her descendants. Abel Rathbone, her son, when 16 ears of age, returned to Salem, Conn, where he held lands in his own right.”
