52956. Jonathan Nichols. Born on 18 Jun 1758 in Reading, MA.81 Jonathan died in Wilmington, MA, on 26 Jul 1840; he was 82.399

Jonathan “was a soldier in the revolution, private in Captain Thomas Eaton’s company, Colonel Green’s regiment, on the Lexington alarm, April 19, 1775, and later in the year in Captain John Bacheller’s company, Colonel Ebenezer Bridges’s regiment. He was also in Captain Benjamin Edgell’s company, Colonel John Jacobs’s regiment, enlisting July 3, 1778; also one of the six months men under the resolve of June 5, 1780, returned as received of Major Joseph Hosmer, superintendent of Middlesex and of Justin Ely, commissioner, by Brigadier General Glover, at Springfield, July 10, 1780. He was then described as twenty-two years old, five feet seven inches in height.”108 After the war he settled in Wilmington, MA.108

Jonathan died age 82.399
On 15 Dec 1778 when Jonathan was 20, he married Elizabeth Culnan in Reading, MA.81 Born ca 1758. Elizabeth died in Wilmington, MA on 25 Nov 1821.399

According to Cutter,108 the children of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Culnan) Nichols were:
    i. Charles Nichols, b. 19 Apr 1779 at Reading81;
    ii. Rebecca Nichols, b. 1782;
    iii. Jesse Nichols, b. 1784;
    iv. Benjamin Nichols, b. 1790;
    v. Betsey Nichols, b. 1792, m. Edward Burditt; (an Elizabeth Nichols did marry Edward Burditt 4 Aug 1816 at Wakefield)
    vi. Nathaniel Nichols, b. 1794;
    vii. Jonathan Nichols, b. 1796, m. Mary Flint;
    viii. Eben Nichols, b. 1800; and
    ix. Mary Nichols, b. 1802.
However, the Jonathan and Betsey that Cutter listed were apparently from some other family, and he missed Rhoda.

Ebenezer had the homestead of his father and grandfather. He sold it to Nathaniel Batchelder, who tore down the old house about 1800. The cellar still [1908] marks the site.108
On 19 May 1789 when Ebenezer was 27, he first married Rebecca Hayward, daughter of Jabez Hayward (13 Jun 1714-aft 26 Jan 1786) & Elizabeth Russell, in Andover, MA.200 Born on 12 Jan 1762 in Andover, MA.200 Rebecca died in Reading, MA, on 8 Feb 1790; she was 28.81

On 25 Nov 1790 when Ebenezer was 28, he second married Betsey Dix (60863) , daughter of Capt. John Dix (50806) (22 Jul 1734-23 Aug 1806) & Mary (-2 Apr 1801), in Reading, MA.81 Born on 12 Jan 1769 in Reading, MA.81 Betsey died in South Reading, MA, on 10 Jun 1864; she was 95.
