On 8 Aug 1770 when Emerson was 25, he first married Ann Mansel (53836) , daughter of John Mansel (ca 1725-ca 1783) & Leah Simmons (37424) (12 Feb 1725-), in First Parish Church of Scituate.52 Born on 29 Jun 1749 in Scituate, MA.52 At the age of 4, Ann was baptized in First Parish Church of Scituate, on 30 Sep 1753.52 Ann died in Orrington, Penobscot County, Maine ca 1797.

On 4 Oct 1797 when Emerson was 52, he second married Olive Metcalf.
