Apparently, Heman had four wifes and his marriages were

    1825 to Hepsibah Nash, b. 1755, d. 1829
    1829 to Hannah Gardner, b. 1798, d. 1836
    1836 to Ruth Clark, b. 1796, d. 1850
The age of Hepsibah seems to be off, but her death record clearly stated that she died age 74.

There’s an intention to marry at Scituate, dated 14 Nov 1818, of Heman Stoddard and Susan W. Gardner of Hingham, but it was crossed out.52 Apparently they weren’t married.

There are two marriage records for Heman and Betsey, one at Hanover a month before the one at Scituate. Mr. Heman Stoddard of Scituate resident in Hanover & Miss Betsy Brooks of Hanover Decr the 2d 1819.486 Heman Stoddard of Hanover and Betsey Brooks of Hanover, were married 4 Jan 1820.52

On 13 Nov 1825 Heman second married Hepsibah Nash (51197) , daughter of Elisha Nash (34015) (4 Jul 1722-) & Abigail White (47733) (ca 1737-1818), in Hanover, MA.486 Born ca 1755. Hepsibah died in Hanover, MA on 2 Oct 1829.486

Heman and Hebsibah were both of Hanover when they married.486

Hepsibeth, wife of Heman Stoddard, died age 74.486 The written town rrecords has Hephzibeth written above an unreadable word. It’s not “second”. It’s clearly written that she “died Aged 74 yrs.” There’s no mistaking the number 74.
On 19 Dec 1829 Heman third married Hannah Jane Gardner in Hanover, MA.486 Born ca 1798. Hannah Jane died in Hanover, MA on 29 May 1836. Buried in Union Cemetery, Hanover.
