Sarah Ann Grubaugh was born to Michael Grubaugh (1792). The name of her mother is unknown and depends considerably on the birth date. Her mother is either Eleanor Snyder or Catherine ??, Michael's 3rd wife. Her date of birth above is, at best, an compromise. Her death certificate states that she was born in 1822. The various census images provide a variety of birth dates - 1840 (1830-1835); 1850 (1831); 1860 (1822); 1870(1833); 1880 (1820); and 1900 (1825). Her first child was born in 1848 and her final child was born in 1871.
Sarah's child in 1848 was John Jackson Castor. He was born out of wedlock with Tobias Castor. John is listed with Sarah in 1850 (as John Grubaugh) and in 1860 (as John Kiner), but he finally assumes the surname of his birth father - Castor. His death certificate (1925) identifies Sarah Grubaugh as his mother and Tobias Castor as his father. Sarah married William Hewlett on 21 Jun 1852 in Richland County, OH, but that marriage didn't last long, or William died. Sarah married a widower, Michael Kiner, on 15 Feb 1853 in Richland County, OH.
Sarah and Michael had 10 children together. He died in 1878, but Sarah never remarried again. She died in 1917.
