The death of Arthur Weller, aged nearly 70 years, occurred at the home of his sister, Mrs. William Alger, on Vine Street, last Saturday afternoon, March 10th, 1928. Going to the barn, he fired two bullets from a 22-calibre rifle, one entering his breast and the other his mouth. His body was discovered some time later on the floor of the barn by his niece, Mrs. Orson Alger, who went in search of him. Coroner A. M. Stewart, who was called pronounced death caused by suicide. He had been quite badly crippled since last fall, when several bones in one of his feet were crushed by a horse stepping on the foot. Mr. Weller was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Weller and he was born in Yates County; most of his life was spent in the towns of Potter and Italy, but he had resided for the past few years at the home of his sister, in this village.
