# 36673 states that Charles U. Lfler died 20 July 1955. He was born 26 February 1865 in New York. He had been in the Muskegon Convelessant Hospital for six weeks and died of squamous cell carcinoma with metastases of the lip (five years). In July 1950 he had an operation on his lip. He was a retired mail carrier. The informant was Mrs. Orvan Decker and the funeral director was D. K. Miller.

LAFLER - Charles Lafler, aged 90 of Dutton, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Orvan Decker of Muskegon Heights. He leaves three other children, Mr.s L. D. Stamm, O. J. Lafler and Mrs. Bernice Hanson; twenty-six grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Asa and Russell, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Fox of New York state. Mr. Lafler will repose at the Cross-Miller Funeral Home, Caledonia, where friends may meet with the family Monday evening from 7 to 9 o’clock. Mr. Lafler will lie in state at the Dutton United Bretheren church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. when services will be held. Interment in Dutton Cemetery.
On 7 Nov 1884 when Charles Ulysses was 19, he married Lucy Gabrielle Miner, daughter of John Hubbard Miner (ca 1833-13 Nov 1883) & Elmina H. Rose (Jun 1851-22 Nov 1892), in Wyoming Township, Kent County, Michigan. Born on 7 Apr 1868 in Byron Township, Kent County, Michigan. Lucy Gabrielle died in Dutton, Kent County, Michigan, on 29 Jan 1942; she was 73. Buried in Dutton Cemetery.
