    William J. Duppong, Sr. age 93, of Glen Ullin died Sunday November 20, 2005 while a resident of the Marian Manor Health Care Center in Glen Ullin. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at 10:30 AM Central time at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with the Reverend Sebastian Schmidt, OSB as Celebrant. Public visitation will be on Tuesday at the church after 5:00 PM with Vigil services at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Glen Ullin.
    William was born November 5, 1912, in rural Glen Ullin, the son of Joseph P. and Rosa (Filibeck) Duppong II. He was raised on the farm North East of Glen Ullin. He married Hilda Gietzen May 10, 1938 at Sacred Heart Church. They raised their large family on the beef, dairy and grain farm North West of Glen Ullin. Music was an important part of his life, so in his younger years he played accordion in the Duppong Brothers Band. He also enjoyed baseball and horse shoe. Bill was one of the first in the area to have a snow blower, and was called upon by the county on a number of occasions to remove snow. Bill was also busy with the telephone lineman duties of Fertile Valley Telephone Co. Bill was an active member of the St. Clement's Parish, St. Clements Men's Confraternity, and Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree. He was also a director for the Farmers Union and a 4-H leader for many years. Hilda died February 2, 1982. Following the death of Hilda, William later married Minnie Gartner Miller on April 23, 1984. Following this marriage they resided in New Salem. During his retirement years Bill enjoyed mending clothes for family and friends, he also liked to play cards and visit with the neighbors and friends. They moved to Marian Manor Apartments in Glen Ullin in 2001. Minnie died June 19, 2003. Bill entered the Marian Manor Health Care Center in November of 2003 where he has resided since.
    He is survived by his children: Wayne (Donna), Bismarck, ND; Denis (Jean), Cedar Rapids, IA; Kenneth (Mary Ann), Glen Ullin, ND; Jerry (Beverly), Bismarck, ND; Bill (Brenda), Glen Ullin, ND; Jean (Jim) Wanner, Hebron, ND; Elaine (Bob) Herz, Glen Ullin, ND; Carol (Don) Cardwell, Jonesburough, TN; Sharon (Aaron) Steinwand, Bishop, CA; 46 Grandchildren and 48 Great Grandchildren. He also has two brothers: Anton (Marge) Duppong, St. Paul, MN; and Leo (Claudia) Duppong, Glen Ullin, ND and one sister-in-law Angela Duppong. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Allan; his sisters: Catherine Seeberger Nelson, Agnes Duppong, and Louise Wehri; his brothers: Louis, Joseph, Ernest and Steve.

  A Funeral Mass for Claudia Duppong, 89, of Glen Ullin, will be at 10:00 a.m. CDT, Friday, August 29, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glen Ullin with Father Jeff Zwack celebrating.  Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
    Visitation for Claudia will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. CDT, Thursday, August 28th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Rosary and Vigil service being held at 7:00 p.m. CDT.
    Claudia passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Marion Manor HealthCare Center in Glen Ullin.
    Claudia was born April 4, 1925 the daughter of Frank Hoepfner and Margaret Goldie.  She lived on a farm north of Beulah and attended country school.  On March 30, 1948 Claudia married Leo Duppong at St. Martin’s Church in Hazen, ND. They were blessed with seven children, Diane, Sandy, Kathy, Rayne, Judy, Jolene, and Lyle.
    Claudia worked at Marian Manor Nursing Home for 27 years.  She loved working with the elderly and what brought her the most enjoyment was being able to talk “German” with the residents.  Claudia was a member of the Christian Mothers which supported her deep religious beliefs.  She also found much joy in gardening, dancing, playing cards, and cooking.  Chokecherry jelly, apple pie and raisin cookies made her top pastry chef in the Duppong family.
    Claudia will be greatly missed by her husband, Leo; son, Lyle; daughters, Diane Miller (John), Sandy Schlak (Carl), Kathy Zander (Craig), Rayne Kembel (Reinie); 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Norma Kastner of Dickinson.
    She was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy and Jolene; her parents and two brothers.
    “Claudia was a little woman but there was no job too big for her to tackle.”
