Obituary:
Eva Duppong Schirado January 2, 1922- February 4, 2012Eva Schirado died peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 90.
Born in Glen Ullin, ND, Eva was the daughter of Anton and Anna Duppong and one of eleven children. She graduated from Glen Ullin High School and Dickinson State Teacher's College (Dickinson State University) and was the first in her large family to be college educated.
Eva Duppong married Victor Schirado, also of Glen Ullin in 1943. They had five children, Gery Schirado (Patti) of Portland, OR, Yvonne Sherman of Kennewick, WA, James Schirado of Kennewick, WA, Victoria Sirl (Michael) of Jefferson, OR, and Sara Ellman (Scott) of Kennewick, WA. Victor preceded his wife in death in 1989.
Eva is survived by her five children, four grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews throughout the country for whom she held a special and unique love for each. Her deeply beloved parents and two brothers, Carl and Edwin Duppong welcomed their daughter and sister into Heaven on February 4, 2012. All who survive and know the Duppong family, know how joyous of an occasion this was.
Eva's family, while very large, remains close and intimate. Her surviving siblings include sisters Emma, Sister Yvonne Duppong, Catherine, Teresa, Mary and Esther (in their youth known as the "Tony Duppong Girls") and brothers Albert and Clarence.
We know that family and faith formed the foundation of her life and continued to play the central role as she lived her full and extraordinary 90 years. She was the daughter of a farmer who worked hard as a young girl to help her Dad with milking cows and various chores while attending school; a teacher to children in rural North Dakota, teaching in a one-room school house; a wife; after moving from North Dakota with her new husband and their first child to Hanford (Richland, WA) in 1945 she became mother to four more children and raised them in faith, security and generosity. One of her passions was baking and put her skills with yeast and dough to work as an entrepreneur in 1977 when she established "The Bread Box Bakery and Sandwich Shop" in Richland, WA. She worked actively in her business for 13 years before she retired. Many Hanford Area workers will fondly remember their early morning stops at the Bread Box on their way to work for a homemade cinnamon roll and a sandwich made on Eva's homemade bread.
Eva enjoyed needlework, flower gardening, especially roses and begonias, golfing, and traveling the country with her beloved sisters. She was an original season ticket holder when the Tri-City Americans hockey team came to Kennewick and attended every home game until she was no longer able to climb the stairs to her reserved seat. She then listened to nearly every game on the radio. She was fiercely loyal to her team.
Until two weeks prior to her death, Eva lived independently. When she no longer felt the energy to cook and bake, she moved to Wynwood Brookdale Senior Living. Eva's family would like to thank the aides and nurses at Wynwood for their kind and tender care. Her final hospital stay was in the Kadlec Medical Center ICU where she received expert and compassionate care by the entire medical staff.
Einan's Funeral Home is handling Eva's final arrangements with viewing on Thursday, February 9 from 5:00-5:30 pm followed by the rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Thomas C. Champoux on Friday, February 10 at 11:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland, WA. A reception will directly follow in the Gathering Space of the Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Eva with a donation to Christ the King Catholic School at 1122 Long Ave, Richland, WA 99354 where four of Eva's children attended when tuition was free to members of the parish.

Eunice (Sebastian) Schirado went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 26, 2014, surrounded by her loving family at Marian Manor. She was a model of faith, courage and inspiration to everyone who knew her right up until the last moments of her life.
Eunice was born July 12, 1928, at the home of her grandmother, Ma Gietzen. Eunice was the oldest child of John and Caroline (Gietzen) Sebastian of Hebron. She was raised on the family farm northeast of Hebron in the Haymarsh Valley and attended Morton County rural schools and Haymarsh Catholic School.
Eunice married her soul mate and best friend, Ernest Schirado of Glen Ullin on Oct. 10, 1951, at St. Clement’s Catholic Church. They moved to the Schirado homestead northeast of Glen Ullin, where they farmed, ranched and raised nine children.

Eunice faithfully served her parish and community by active participation in the Sacred Heart Christian Mothers, Glen Ullin Saddle Club, Glen Ullin School Election Board, as well as being a 50-year member of the Haymarsh Homemakers.
Eunice was known for raising a huge garden. Her pickled beets are legendary among her family and friends. She made excellent baked goods — bread, caramel rolls, pies, chocolate chip cookies. In her spare time, Eunice enjoyed reading, word finds, needle work, sewing, music and dancing, seeing her children come home and spoiling her grandchildren.
Eunice was dedicated to her husband and children and they were blessed for sharing her life. She had seven sons, Rick (Wanda), Aurora, Colo., Allen (Marjie), Bismarck, Tim (Lori), Menoken, Bruce (Heidi), Bismarck, Russell (Holly), Menoken, Bryan (Michelle), Harrisburg, S.D., and Kyle (Mitzi), Granby, Colo.; and two daughters, Lynnette, Glen Ullin, and Corrine (David) Vatnsdal-Geck, Bismarck.
Eunice instilled in all her children the strong sense of family and Catholic Faith. When it was absolutely necessary to miss a Sunday mass or Holy Day of Obligation, the living room hushed with 11 voices reciting a rosary.
Precious to her were every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Michael (Rhonda) Schirado, their children, Peyton and Shea; Sarah (Jay) Rarog, their children, Blake and Breslyn; Jennifer (Kris) Goodman, their children Rachel, Katherine and Caroline; Joseph (Michaela) Schirado; John (Megan) Schirado; Christopher (Lynsey) Schirado, their son, Kylan; Cory Schirado; Cody Schirado; Kalli Schirado; Jordyn Schirado; Casey Schirado; Lindy (Steven) West; Dustin Schirado and his fiancee, Dusti Flath; Kaylee Schirado; Mathew Schirado; Nicholas Schirado; John Schirado; Jacob Schirado; Travis Vatnsdal; Cassidy Vatnsdal; Samantha (Geck) and Adam Nies, their son, Milo; and Macy Geck.
