Jane E. Hart was encompassed with love April 28, 2017 as she left family and friends on earth to rejoin those already in Heaven. Born to Mary and Leo J. (Bill) Herrick in Lansing on July 15, 1925 at home. She was the oldest and only girl with five younger brothers, Mark, James and Jack (all deceased) and surviving brothers, Scott (Anita) and Tom (Phyllis) Herrick. Jane graduated from East Lansing High where she was known for her smile. Married to Thomas A. Hart in 1947, they raised four children on the family Centennial Farm near Mulliken. Tom and Jane celebrated more than 65 years of marriage before his death in 2013. Their son Bill preceded them in death in 1990. Music was a very important part of Jane's life. She played piano for family and Eastern Star events, which she was a lifetime member of Mulliken OES Chapter #161, serving in many roles including Worthy Matron. Jane also taught nutrition classes and First Aid with CPR for Civil Defense. Surviving are her son, Jim (Lynn) Hart of Grand Ledge; daughters, Jacqueline (Klaus) Hart-Mikkelsen of Evanston, IL and Mary Jane (Charles) Ewing-Eppright of Battle Creek; granddaughters, Jessica (Jason) Stratton, Amy (Nathan) Brooke, Evelyn (Valentin) Todorow and Jacqueline (Mark) Corstange; great-grandchildren, Allison and William. Jane loved her family and the reunions located around the country. Her famous cookies and phone calls will be missed. Services were held Saturday at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken with Rev. Gregory Wolfe officiating. Interment followed at Meadowbrook Cemetery. Donations may be made to Mulliken OES Chapter #161, % Helen Milbourne, Secretary, 13361 Turner Road, Grand Ledge, MI 48837.

Tom spent his last days with his family and peacefully left this world for his next journey on January 16, 2013 at the age of 88. He was born October 10, 1924 in Lansing, son of Clifton and Mildred (Lyon) Hart and was a fourth generation farmer on the Hart sesquicentennial farm in Roxand Township. Tom was a Navy veteran of World War II, member and Past Master of Mulliken F. & A.M. #412, member and Past Patron of Mulliken O.E.S. #161, charter member of Portland Machinist Guild, charter member of Central Michigan 2 Cylinder Club and was a Ford salesman for over 30 years. He was preceded in death by their son, William, in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Jane (Herrick); son, James (Lynn) Hart of Grand Ledge; daughters, Jacqueline (Klaus) Hart-Mikkelsen of Evanston, IL and Mary Jane (Charles) Ewing-Eppright of Battle Creek; 4 granddaughters; and 1 great-granddaughter.
Services 11 A.M. Saturday at Barker-Leik Funeral Home, Mulliken, with Rev. Gregory Wolfe officiating, followed by Masonic Rites. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care, 2675 S. Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813.
