Town of Galway

New Topographical Atlas of Saratoga County, New York

Stone & Stewart Publ., Philadelphia, 1866

The town of Galway is located in the west side of Saratoga County. It is bounded on the east by the town of Milton, on the north by the town of Providence, on the west by Fulton County, and on the south by the town of Charlton. The population of Galway in 1865 was 2202.

This map is on page 31 of the Atlas. There is a separate inset for one of the more built up parts of town, namely for Galway P. O., the center of town. Another community, York's Corner, does not have an inset, but it does have a business directory printed alongside the Galway Town map.

Transcription of the names on the map. A transcription of the names is useful for two reasons. First, sometimes the words are not too easy to read on the scanned map. Second, you can search the transcription of names, then find the name on the map.

The town consists of parts of three allotments. The northwest is part of the 21st allotment, the central part of the 16th allotment, and the south part of the 14th allotment. Each part is divided into sections. The list of names is given for each section roughly from west to east and from north to south.

Northwest part, the 21st allotment.

Central part, the 16st allotment.

South part, the 14st allotment.
