ca 1453 Margaret first married John Clifford (5375) , son of Thomas Clifford (5363) (26 Mar 1414-22 May 1455) & Joan Dacre (5134) (ca 1412/1416-bef 1455). Born ca 1435. John was baptized in Conisborough Castle, Yorkshire, on 8 Apr 1435. John died on 28 Mar 1461 in the Battle of Towton, Ferrybridge, Yorkshire.
John Clifford, ninth Lord Clifford of Skipton. He was determined to avenge his fathers death. The Duke of York was killed in the battle of Wakefield in 1460, and Clifford as principle Red Rose.
He was Knighted on the battlefield as a reward for the death of so many men. He is reputed to have cut of York's head and put it on the gates of York. He is also said to of killed York's teenage son, Edmund, Earl of Rutland, in cold blood after he had surrendered thus earning the nickname Butcher.
Margaret second married Sir Lancelot Threlkeld, son of Henry Threlkeld & Margaret Thornborough. Born ca 1435 in Melmerby, Yorkshire. Lancelot died on 22 Apr 1493 in Cumberland.
