Dorothy was the sister of Walter Austin of Bethersden in Kent, and was the widow of Thomas Foster. She had several children by her first marriage, among them Richard Foster who married Patience Bigge, the daughter of John and Rachel (Martin) Bigge of Tenderden.13

On 31 Oct 1586 Dorothy second married John Besbedge (290) in Biddenden, Kent. John died in Biddenden, Kent in Feb 1609. Buried on 26 Feb 1609 in Biddenden, Kent.13 Occupation: yeoman.
John resided in Biddenden, Kent, England. The family spelling varied greatly including Byxpitch, Besbeche, Besbridge, Besbeech, Besbyche, and others.13
Elisha Besbedge of Scituate is commonly claimed to be Thomas’s son. Thomas was in Scituate in 1637, later in Duxbury, Marshfield, and Sudbury. Thomas’s will of 1672 doesn’t mention Elisha, and Anderson14 finds the chronology impossible to support that claim.
