The will of Edward Borden of Headcorn, co. Kent, dated 28 January 1559/60. To be buried in Headcorn churchyard. My wife Margaret is to be my executor, and she is to pay to my brother Stephen Borden £17 6s., which was given him of my father. To my mother, to Thomas Borden, my brother, to Edmunde Borden, my brother, to Jolm Borden, and to my brother Steven Borden, to each 20s. To my sister Thamasin, to my sister Agnes, and to my sister Elizabeth, to each 10s. To John, Thomas, and Christopher Batnor 26s 8d each, at sixteen years of age. To Alice Warner £5, at twenty years of age. To the poor, at my burial, 10s. To my mother £5, which I owe her. Witnesses: John Kyppyr, Nycholas Boods, Nicholas Homersham, and others [not named]. To my daughter Agnes, wife of Jonas Gorham, £10, one bedstead standing next to the parlor door, with a flock bed, a pair of blankets, a pair of sheets, one coverlet, a bolster, a pillow, a pillowbere, the greatest brass pot save one, three platters, three pewter dishes, a cow, a yard kercher, two neckerchers, two cross-clothes, a linen apron, and four bushels of wheat. To my brother Stephen Borden £4. To my sister Elizabeth Borden £4. To Edward Mills, my servant, 10s. To my maid, Tabitha Dame, 10s.
