2063. Rev. Edward Wightman. Born on 20 Dec 1566 in Burbage, Leicestershire. Edward died in Manchuet Place, Litchfield, Staffordshire, on 11 Apr 1612; he was 45.

Edward was a minister of the Six-Principle Baptist Church, closely related to the First Baptist Church of Providence, founded in 1638.

Edward sentenced 14 Dec 1611 by Richard Neale for nonconformity. Neale commenced with "a sermon and confutation of Wightman's blasphemies against the Trinity". The charges brought against Edward included eleven distinct heresies. He was excommunicated, publicly denounced, and sentenced to burn at the stake the following spring on 9 Mar 1612 by a warrant issued by King James I. He was spared but refused to make a statement in writing, and was burned at the stake 11 Apr 1612.

On 2 Sep 1593 when Edward was 26, he married Frances Darbye in Burton-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Born ca 1569.
