Although it has been stated that George and Sarah had a son John Lane who married Mehitable Hobart, Ellen Jeanette Lane showed in her article “Parentage of John Lane of Hingham and Norton, Mass.” New Eng. Hist. Gen. Reg. 83 (1929): 466-467, that John was the son of William and Mary (Kelloway) of Boston.
Sarah married George Lane (2776) , son of William Lane (1211) (ca 1581-between 28 Feb 1650 and 5 Jul 1654) & Agnes. Born ca 1613 in Beaminster, Dorset.14 George died in Hingham, MA on 4 Jun 1689.98 Occupation: shoemaker.

George was one of the early planters of Hing., and at the first distribution of land on Town (North) Street, Sept. 18, 1635, a house-lot of five acres was granted to him. He also had a grant of ten acres at ‘Nutty Hill,’ and thirteen shares in the common lands. He died 11 Jun 1689. Will proved 20 Aug followling “Shoemaker.” Selectman in 1669 and 1678. Resided on North Street, near Beal Street.
