On 14 Oct 1741 when Samuel was 29, he first married Sarah Tiffany in Barrington, RI. Sarah died on 22 Jan 1743/4 in Rehoboth, MA.

On 24 Oct 1745 when Samuel was 33, he second married Esther [Hammond] in Rehoboth, MA.

Esther, also called Hester, widow of John Hammond.

Children of Samuel and Hester Maxwell, born at Rehoboth:
i. Sarah Maxwell, b. 25 Oct 1746, d. young;
ii. Sarah Maxwell, b. 28 Feb 1748/9;
iii. Esther Maxwell, b. 12 Nov 1751; and
iv. John Maxwell, b. 26 Jun 1754.
