    (#35) Mary Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 21st. June I651, removed with her father to Northampton, Mass., in 1655–6, where she m. Matthew Closson, 22nd. Dec. 1670. He was an Irishman and a servant of one of the settlers. They had one child b. Northampton, after which they removed to Deerfield, Franklin Co. Mass. Here he took the oath of Allegiance 8th. Feb. 1678, and was made a Freeman in 1690. His wife Mary died 15th. April 1687. (He married 2nd Sarah Hedge 21st. Nov. 1701; by her he had no issue.) He d. in 1716—his will dated 1713, proved 7th Nov. 1716. Many of his descendants may be found in Franklin Co.
On 12 Dec 1670 when Mary was 19, she married Matthew Clesson in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.115 Born in Ireland. Matthew died in Deerfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts ca 1716.

    (#36) Dea. Nathaniel Phelps, b. Windsor, Ct., 2nd. June, 1653, removed with his father to Northampton, Mass., in 1656–6, where he married Grace Martin, 11th. Aug., 1676. She was an English woman b. 1656, d. Northampton, Mass., 2nd. Aug., 1727, aged 71 years.
    Mr. Phelps settled in Northampton, Mass., in the old homestead. He was a deacon in the Church, and took great interest in all public matters. He d. 19th. June 1719; in his will, dated 1719, he directs his sons Samuel and Nathaniel to help Timothy to build a house if he settled in the town; also mention is made of his daughters, Lydia, Abigail, Sarah, Grace and Elizabeth, all his children then living—two having died young.
On 11 Aug 1676 when Nathaniel was 23, he married Grace Martin, daughter of William Martin & Lydia Marsh (ca 1624-), in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts.115 Born ca 1656. Grace died in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts on 2 Aug 1727.115
