John was part proprietor of Conihasset 20 May 1686.111

John Merritt and wife Elizabeth, of Scituate, were charged Mar 1687/8 for fornication having had a child born “twelve weeks too soon...twenty-seven weeks afer marriage, Plymouth Court Records, 1:194.361

John died age 79 years 3 months 16 days.52

Will: John Merritt died intestate. Administration on his estate was given on July 1740 to his son John Merritt. Division was made to widow Mrs. Elizabeth Merritt; Ichabod Merrett, Henry Merrett, David Merrett, Ezakiel Merrett, Deborah Hatch, Elizabeth Prout, Mary Buck, Abigail House and the legal representatives of Ruth Lincoln, deceased. During his lifetime his son Henry had received £40 toward his portion; David, £32; Ezekiel £5; and John, Thomas and Jonathan Merrett had received their full portions.

On 26 Dec 1693 when Thomas was 28, he married Sarah Stockbridge (17802) , daughter of Charles Stockbridge (6470) (ca 1633/4-28 Dec 1683) & Abigail (ca 1636/38-Mar 1709/10), in Scituate, MA.62,110 Born on 30 May 1665 in Scituate, MA.52 Sarah died between 6 Feb 1755 and 17 May 1765.

Sarah first married Israel Turner, second Thomas Pinson.

Jacob Turner’s genealogy of the Turners shows that Israel and Sarah Turner had a son Seth, but no other record of him can be found.239

On 16 May 1695 when Joanna was 27, she married Joseph Thorne in Scituate, MA.110 Joseph died in Hingham, MA 14 Jan 1731/2.45

Was William perhaps the son of William & Mary Thorne of Boston? Or maybe William and Winnifred (Linnington) Thorne of Lynn, MA, and Hempstead, Long Island?

25 Feb 1691/2 Sarah married Samuel House, son of Samuel House (ca 1638-15 Jul 1702) & Rebecca Nichols (ca 1643-), in Scituate, MA.110 Born on 28 Mar 1665 in Scituate, MA.52 Samuel died in Scituate, MA in 1718.53

Samuel and Sarah probably lived near Curtis’s mill, west of the third Herring brook. The last of this family in Scituate was Coombs House, who removed to Pembroke ponds, 1808.53

On 17 Jun 1696 when Mary was 26, she married Joseph Blossom, son of Peter Blossom (aft 1627-Jul 1706) & Sarah Bodfish (ca 1638-3 Oct 1704), in Scituate, MA.170 “Jospeh Blossom & Mary Pinchon Were married 17 of June 1696 pr Mr Laason of Situate”. Born on 10 Dec 1673 in Barnstable, MA.170 Joseph died in Barnstable, MA berween 13 May 1749 and 8 Nov 1749.

12 Jan 1696/7 Bathsheba first married Joseph Nichols (13898) , son of Thomas Nichols (ca 1643-) & Sarah Whiston (4781) (ca 1643-), in Scituate, MA.110 Born on 29 May 1673 in Scituate, MA.52 Joseph died bef 8 Aug 1718.

Joseph lived near George Moore’s bridge.53

On 12 Apr 1723 when Bathsheba was 49, she second married Nicholas Wade (4802) , son of Nicholas Wade (ca 1615-ca 1683) & Elizabeth Hanford (1887) (1621-9 Oct 1711), in Scituate, MA.52 Born ca 1660 in Scituate, MA. Nicholas was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 1 Jul 1660.52 Nicholas died in Scituate, MA 16 Mar 1723/4.

Nicholas’s will was dated 16 Mar 1723 and probated 6 Apr 1724.

He first did not marry Rebecca Nichols (13897) , daughter of Thomas Nichols (ca 1643-) & Sarah Whiston (4781) (ca 1643-). Born on 17 Mar 1670 in Scituate, MA.52

There was a case in June of 1700 involving Rebecka Nichols of Scituate and Ebenezer Pincin, putative father of the bastard child of Rebecca Nichols. There’s no record of the birth in the town records, but Anna, the daughter of Rebecca Nocols, was baptized in 1710.
