On 22 May 1712 when Abigail was 21, she married Joseph Cummings (26050) , son of John Cummings (10264) (7 Jun 1666-16 Jul 1722) & Susannah Towne (24 Dec 1671-13 Sep 1766).149 Born ca Jan 1689/90 in Topsfield, MA. Joseph was baptized 26 Jan 1689/90.149 Joseph died in Topsfield, MA on 24 Dec 1729.149 He died of smallpox.

    Joseph “lived in Topsfield. January 13, I729-30, Capt. Joseph Cummings administered for the estate of Joseph, deceased, ‘his brother-in-law.’ The estate which the father, John, left to Joseph and John, sons, was, Oct. 26, 1722, divided equally. It contained 100 acres. Thos. Potter, of Ipswich, was appointed guardian of Joseph; Jacob Peabody, of Ipswich, of Jacob; Jos. Cummings, of Ipswich, of Moses; Aaron Estey, of Topsfield, of Daniel; and John Perkins, whose wife was Mary Estey, of Abigail. The children ‘on coming of age, sold their shares in the estate, so that the homestead passed out of the family name.’ (Hist. Coll. Topsfield.)”
