    Joseph “lived in Topsfield. January 13, I729-30, Capt. Joseph Cummings administered for the estate of Joseph, deceased, ‘his brother-in-law.’ The estate which the father, John, left to Joseph and John, sons, was, Oct. 26, 1722, divided equally. It contained 100 acres. Thos. Potter, of Ipswich, was appointed guardian of Joseph; Jacob Peabody, of Ipswich, of Jacob; Jos. Cummings, of Ipswich, of Moses; Aaron Estey, of Topsfield, of Daniel; and John Perkins, whose wife was Mary Estey, of Abigail. The children ‘on coming of age, sold their shares in the estate, so that the homestead passed out of the family name.’ (Hist. Coll. Topsfield.)”
On 22 May 1712 Joseph married Abigail Estey (14434) , daughter of Isaac Estey (ca 1656-1714) & Abigail Kimball (5059) (22 Mar 1667-12 Feb 1760).149 Born on 8 Jan 1691. Abigail died in Topsfield, MA 10 Jan 1729/30.149 She died of smallpox.

26051. John Cummings. Born ca Jul 1692 in Topsfield, MA. John was baptized in Ipswich, MA, on 17 Jul 1692. John died in Southboro, MA on 22 May 1756.

From the Cummings Memorial:149
    John “lived first in Middleton and afterward in Andover. He died May 22, 1756, having made his will Dec. 19 previous, being then of Southboro. December 16, 1727, John and Stebbins, brothers, ‘exchallged messuages’ given by their father. In 1732, he is spoken of as belonging to Middleton, now ‘Porter-Gould place.’ March 13, 1739-40, mention is made of a deed of gift of one-half acre, known as ‘the burying place’ to him, and David Cummings and others, with privilege to pass for burial across the land of Joseph Herrick, of Topsfield. March 1, 1753, he bought of Nicholas Holt, land near Holt’s saw mill. Mary, the widow, administratrix, deeded in 1757, a four-acre piece, same tract as above, to Thomas Holt, Jr. In 1767, to same party, 15 acres on Salem road, Andover, bounded on Osgood’s farm; also four acres in Andover to Timothy Fuller, to which sale Jonathan and Lydia Cummings were witnesses. Jonathan Cummings and Lydia Oakes were married in Andover, Nov. 6, 1766. The inventory of John’s estate at his death was £95 5s. 5d. He seems to have removed to Southboro by I 748, buying land there of a Jolm How; his son-in-law, Thomas Goodale, buying an adjoining tract of a John Gould.”
18 Feb 1715/6 (Int.) John married Mercy Larrabee, daughter of Isaac Larrabee (ca 1663-10 May 1755).149 Born 26 Jan 1689/90 in Lynn, MA. Mercy died aft 1767.

From the Cummings Memorial:149
    “David was known as ‘Cornet David.’ Several purchases and sales in Tops field are recorded in his hame. With his brohter John, he gave the land for the south side burying ground there. He woned land in Middleton also. In his will, dated 1761, provision was made for his widow’s home—’in the east end of my house with my mother, Susanna Cummings.’ Portions were willed to the older children, Samuel to have the residue of the estate, and to provide for Daniel and Archelaus.”
David first married Anna. Born ca 1710.149 Anna died in Topsfield, MA on 9 Feb 1741.149

Stebbins was named for his father’s brother Stebbings, who had died ‘by hand of the Indians’ earlier in the year.
On 26 Feb 1730 when Stebbins was 23, he married Ruth Giles, daughter of John Giles (ca 1671-10 May 1731) & Abigail Raymond (ca 1676-), in Topsfield, MA. Born ca 1705 in Salem, MA. Ruth was baptized in Salem, MA, on 16 Sep 1705.

Samuel transferred 23 Nov 1733 his title to the property in Middleton to his brother John and moved to Stoughton, MA.149
On 7 Nov 1733 Samuel married Susanna Hood (36175) , daughter of Nathaniel Hood (17392) (9 Jun 1669-30 Oct 1748) & Joanna Dwinnell (5 Sep 1684-1 Mar 1731/2).149 Born ca 1714 in Topsfield, MA. Susanna died in Stoughton, MA (the part now Sharon) on 14 Jan 1812.149
