    “Samuel Cummings early settled in what is now Lunenburg, Mass., then known as ‘Lancaster New Grant.’ He lived in the west part of the town near Fitchburg line, on the farm owned in 1848 by Jacob Proctor. He was one of 43 grantees of Rindge, N. H., in I749. On Mar. 16, 1773, he and Sarah sold land in Lunenburg to their son Thaddeus.”
On 28 Sep 1727 Samuel married Sarah Hastings, daughter of John Hastings (ca 1681-ca 1747) & Sarah Fiske (4 Jul 1684-), in Groton, MA.149 Born on 8 Nov 1707 in Watertown, MA.30 Sarah died aft 1796/7.149
