18248.Ruth Woodworth. Born in 1695 in Little Compton, RI.
Ruth was Joseph Owen’s second wife. It’s not clear which of the eleven children of Joseph’s were children of his first wife, Mary, and which were children of Ruth as some have no birth records. The Owen genealogy560 assigns five of them to Ruth: Jonathan, Ruth, Mercy, Irene, and Lydia. Jonathan’s birth was recorded at Lebanon,250 and he was named as the son of Joseph and Ruth. The others appear to be younger.
(Behan352 quotes G. Alan Royce’s analysis of the claim that this Ruth Woodworth married Caleb Fitch. A Ruth Woodworth married Caleb Fitch at 4 Apr 1747 at Bozrah, CT. That’s probably Ruth, daughter of Joshua Woodworth, b. 27 Apr 1730 at Nowrich, or possibley Ruth, daughter of Joseph Woodworth, b. 23 Jan 1728 at Little Compton, and the Caleb Fitch is probably the one born in 1725.)
