Charles Brewster removed from Lebanon to Salisbury, Conn., and in 1763 to Tinmouth, Vt. He was prominent in the early history of Vermont and during its struggle for independence. He was the first town clerk of Tinmouth; was a special judge of Rutlandshire before the county was organized ; was one of the first representatives to the State Legislature in 1778-9, and was a member of the convention at Windsor, Vt., July 2-8, 1777, which established a constitution and frame of government for the State of Vermont. He and his three sons served in the Revolutionary War, and at one time during the war he was appointed commissioner of sequestration for the State. His and his wife's names are the first on the church roll of the first church built at Tinmouth, in 1780, and he was one of the first deacons of that church.
