    (#195) Abigail Phelps, b. Hebron, Ct., 18 April, 1721, m. Jan. 11, 1742, Timothy Bartholomew, b. Wallingford, Ct., d. Hebron, about 1748. She m. 2nd, Jonathan Tarbox, May, 1750. She m. 3rd, John Allen. By him she had no issue. He was b. and d. Columbia Co., N.Y., and she left a widow for 3rd time. She spent her last years with her daughter Mrs. Pepoon, in Stockbridge, Mass., where she died March 14, 1804, in her 83d year, and was buried in the cemetery there. Mr. Bartholomew m. 1st, Mary Hull.

On 11 Jan 1742 when Abigail was 20, she first married Timothy Bartholomew (24877) , son of Andrew Bartholomew (15009) (ca 1670-ca 1755) & Hannah Frisbie (9707) (18 Jan 1681-2 Dec 1741), in Wallingford, CT.90 Born on 28 Feb 1716 in Branford, CT.304 Timothy died in Wallingford, CT, on 27 Apr 1749; he was 33.90

    (#196) Hon. Alexander Phelps, b. Hebron, Ct., 6 Jan., 1723-4, m. 1st Mrs, Anna Phelps, a widow, 20 Jan., 1749. She d. Hebron, Ct., 13th Apr., 1750. He m. 2nd Theodora Wheelock, 9 Feb., 1751, daughter of the Rev. Eleazer Wheelock, and possibly a widow.
    The Rev. Eleazer Wheelock was one of the founders and first president of Dartmouth, and a descendant of Ralph Wheelock of Shropshire, Eng., who emigrated to New England in 1637, settling first in Dedham, and from there to Medfield.
    Mr. Phelps graduated at Yale in class of 1744, studied law, practicing for a time in Hebron, Ct. About 1766 he removed to Hanover, N.H., and in 1771 to Lyme, Grafton Co., N.H. He had large landed estates near Dartmouth college, and appears to have been counsel for his father-in-law, Rev. Eleazer Wheelock, and the college association in their purchase and location; and appears to have purchased lands for himself at about same time. He died there in 1772. His widow, Theodora, was a tax-payer in Lyme, N.H., in 1773. While in Hebron, he was a lawyer of some distinction, and considered one of the best orators in the state during his time, and represented his town in the General Court several times and held other offices of trust.
