Joshua was carried from Deerfield with his second wife Esther, who was killed by the Indians the day after capture on their way to Canada. Joshua returned from Canada and removed to Dorchester, where he had a third wife Repent who died 22 Jul 1714, and he remarried a fourth time.25
On 1 May 1700 when Joshua was 24, he first married Sarah Leonard, daughter of Josiah Leonard (2 Jan 1658-15 Feb 1688/9) & Sarah Dumbleton (5 Feb 1654/5-3 Jan 1693/4).80 Born on 16 Sep 1682 in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts.80 Sarah died on 24 Apr 1702; she was 19.80
