John built the first saw mill on Herring brook, 1690, and shortly after a grist mill.53

20 Mar 167[6/]7 John married Mary Battle, daughter of Thomas Battle & Mary Fisher, in Dedham, MA.190 John Briant & Mary Battilee married the 20th 1st 1677. Born on 6 May 1650. Mary was baptized on 12 May 1650. Mary died on 2 Nov 1732; she was 82.11

Ca 1673/4 Martha married Israel Sylvester, son of Richard Sylvester (ca 1608-1663) & Naomi Torrey (-bef 26 Nov 1668). Born ca 1640 in Weymouth, MA. Israel died in Scituate, MA on 25 Mar 1727.52 Buried in South Parish Cemetery, Norwell.

Israel’s surname was often spelled Silverster.

Israel had a house one fourth mile south-east of the south Meeting-house, on the margin of the 2d. Herring brook in 1670. That house was taken down by Elnathan Cushing 1829.
