“Elisha Doane was a mariner and was called ‘Captain.’ He lived in Wellfleet and in Cambridge, Mass. His widow, Hannah Doane of Cambridge, was appointed to settle his small estate early in 1784. They owned a small building in Wellfleet standing on the land of Elisha Bickford, appraised by Ezekiel Holbrook, Jeremiah Bickford and Capt. Lewis Hamblen.”254
