Elias enlisted as First Lieutenant in Co. Ward’s Regiment 14 May 1776, later a captain in the brigade commanded by Gen. Patterson.54
On 16 Nov 1758 when Elias was 26, he first married Thankful Spaulding, daughter of Capt. Zachariah Spaulding (3 Nov 1702-31 Jul 1771) & Elizabeth Ann Butterfield (-12 Apr 1752), in Brooklyn, CT.54 Born say 1735.

Ezra was ordained pastor of the Church in Braintree in 1762 or 1764 where he remained pastor until his death.54
On 24 Sep 1763 when Ezra Waldo was 27, he first married Anna Weld (47718) , daughter of Rev. Habijah Weld (29810) (2 Sep 1702-14 May 1782) & Mary Fox (26 Oct 1706-7 Jan 1799).
