“He married Sarah Sackett, daughter of Jonathan Sackett. She was born about 1767 . . . (Reuben appears in the 1790 census in Derby, That part of Derby was incorporated in the new town of Oxford, New Haven County in 1798 and there he spent the rest of his life.
    “According to the History of Christ Church, Quaker Farms, in Oxford, Ct, Reuben was made Chorister (to set the psalm) of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oxford in 1788, Clerk in 1812, and Treasurer in 1817. He was Senior Warden of the church for 35 years. His wife died 6 September 1851, and he died 2 February 1853, both at Oxford, New Haven County, Connecticut. both were buried in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Oxford.
    “Reuben’s will, probated in Oxford, reads: ‘I, Reuben Bunnell, will that the barn standing on my homelot, belonging to John L. Fairchild, shall remain his.
    ‘I will that al my household furniture be equally divided between my daughters, Ruth Ann Hodge and Clara Fairchild.
    ‘I give to my four grandchildren, children of my son Horace, deceased. $20, and $20 to my granddaughter, Lavinia Bunnell.
    ‘I will that the remainder of my estate be equally divided between my four children, namely: Lavinia Hitchcock decd, Ruth Ann Hodge, Clara Fairchild and Charles Bunnell.’”
