An article from the Canfield Weekly Herald, 27 July 1865 mentions Jabez.

In an email regatding Jabez Hitchcock/Lovinia on Sun, 06 Jan 2002 at 18:29:51, Jennifer Hutchinson wrote: “Ruth Anna and Caroline (Hitchock) married brothers. Ruth Anna married Ezra J Hunt on 28 Jan 1836 in Trumbull County, Ohio. Caroline A. married Seymour M Hunt on 30 August 1832 in Trumbull County, Ohio.
Caroline's death notice reads: "Hunt, Caroline, w. of Seymour M., dau. of Jabez and Lovina Hitchcock, of Medina, d. March 23, 1852 in Hartsgrove, ae 46th yr."
I don't yet have definite proof that Ruth is the daughter of Jabez and Lovinia yet, but she did name one son Jabez and a daughter Caroline.
I also am running into the name Judson Vantile Hitchcock in the same area at the same time that may be a brother to Caroline and Ruth. Ruth also named a son Judson.
Lots of coincidences, but no proof yet.
I am a descendant of Ruth and Ezra. I am sending a copy of the family group sheet for them I have been able to compile. The information came from a typescript of their family Bible information. Their daughte, Susan Maria Hunt is my great great grandmother. “

A story I have written by my grandmother in 1976

THE SOURCE OF THE LINEN TOW THREAD: THIS THREAD IS 120 YEARS OLD

Crocheted into doilies by Clara Morrison Rhodes — from 1940 1974

Jabez Hitchcock Sr., and his wife came from Holland. His son, Vantile Hitchcock, was my mother’s grandfather. He had four daughters; Dorcas, Hattie, Julia, and Macklin. His daughter Dorcas married Isaac Justice, a Judge in Youngstown, Ohio. To this union was born Flora Justice Mancil and my mother, Lilla Helen Justice Morrison.

When Jabez Hitchcock Sr. and his wife came from Holland they settled in Pennsylvania. The raised flax, made their own thread, wove it into cloth, from which they made their clothing — you could not buy manufactured clothing in those days.

First they made the ‘tow’, then spun it into thread on the spinning wheel or spindle; this was a two year process. In 1955 the process was shortened to ten days. Then they wove it into cloth. The two I have, and the thread and piece of cloth, was made by these people, my Great-Great Grandfather and Grandmother. It was given by Grandpa Isaac Justice to sister Alizia, mother’s aunt, then to mother when she went back to Youngstown, Ohio, at the time her father died in 1903. My mother had it thirty six years, then it was given to me in 1939 when mother passed away.

Jabez Jr., brother of Vantile Hitchcock, was the father of George, Herman, Wilber, Rebecca, Jane and Clara. Clara married Homer Warner, and became the grandmother of my Aunt Clara, Aunt Nettie, Uncle Frank and Uncle Charley.

Grandpa Justice’s second wife was their mother, and they were my mother’s half-sisters and brothers. She was the woman he married after the death of my mother’s mother, Dorcas, who died by falling down the cellar stairs, while pregnant. Mother was seven years old at that time. John Justice, a cousin of Jabez Jr.s children, married Nancy Sexton (Grandpa Justice’s second wife was a second cousin to his first wife) Nancy Sexton, daughter of Stephen Sexton of Poland,Ohio. To this marriage was born Aunt Alizia and Isaac Justice, who became my mother’s father and my grandfather. Aunt Alizia married John Thompson, she was the on who gave mother the linen thread, woven cloth, and skein of ‘Tow’.

Written by Clara Morrison Rhodes, daughter of Lilla Helen Justice and George Morrison. Mother was the daughter of Isaac Justice, and Judge and Dorcas Hitchcock Justice. Told to me by Aunt Clara Trusdail, half-sister of mother, just before World War II when my husband, Miles Rhodes and I were in Youngstown, Ohio on a visit
