Col Samuel Thatcher's regiment; rations allowed from March 4 to March 8 1776; credited with five days allowance; company marched at request of Gen Washington at the taking of Dorchester Heights.     The following is a copy of a paper, probably a leaf from a Bible, found among the papers of James Hervy (originally Harvey) Dix of Boston, founder of the “Journal”. His daughter, Mrs. Josiah Qunicy, then of Quincy, N.H., handed it to Mr. Dix some forty odd years ago.
    Jonathan Dix and Sarah Viles was born in Waltham in the County of Middlesex and Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was married 14th of Jana, 1768 by Jacob Cushing. Abiagil our first child was born died Aged 16 months.
    Abigail 2nd was born Sept. 29th, 1769, on Friday.
    Stephen was born Jana the 31st, 1771, on Friday. [Footnote: This Stephen Dix is supposed to be the one who married Lucy Curtis in 1795 as stated above. For early Dix line see Bond’s Genealogies of Watertown, Mass. W.R.D]
    Sally was born May 7th, 1773, on Friday.
