55061. Elijah Cummings. Born ca Sep 1761 in Ipswich, MA. Elijah was baptized on 27 Sep 1761.149 Elijah died on 28 Mar 1842.149

    Elijah “bought part of his father's farm. He learned a trade in his boyhood and had a shop cn the ‘old house’ lot. A part of his business was making spinning wheels and cabinet work. He lived a short time with his daughter, Judith, in Georgetown. He was converted in the great revival of 1830-1. He was then in his 70th year. Of the company brought into the church he was the eldest, a boy of 12 joining at the same time. He was an earnest man in whatever he undertook. In his last years he spent much time in the reading of the Bible and private devotions. His name is on the list of pensioners, 1833 Massachusetts State troops.”
On 24 Jun 1783 Elijah married Eunice Conant, daughter of William Conant (8 Mar 1720/1-1 Jul 1784) & Elizabeth Potter (20 Jun 1725-).149 Born ca 1763 in Ipswich, MA. Eunice was baptized in Ipswich, MA, on 28 Aug 1763.120 Eunice died in Topsfield, MA on 13 Dec 1813.149

    ii. William Cummings, b. 17 Jan 1788, d. 10 Oct 1868, m. int. 25 Mar 1815 Sarah Scott (b. ca. 1792, d. 17 Aug 1878, dau. of Benjamin & Martha (Perley) Scott); and
    iii. Judith Cummings, b. 28 Jan 1792, d. 26 Dec 1863, m. int. 12 Mar 1815 Sylvester Cummings (b. 17 Mar 1793, d. 17 Apr 1860 at Georgetown, son of David & Mehitable (Cave) Cummings).
55062. Amos Cummings. Born on 13 Dec 1762.149 Amos died in Marlborough, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on 8 Aug 1843; he was 80. Buried in Meeting House Cemetery, Marlborough.

From the Cummings Memorial:149
    “Amos came to Marlboro in the spring of 1782 and purchased some wild land in the northern part of that town. In the autumn he returned to his native town, l'opsfield. In the following spring, in coming back to Marlboro, he was obliged to travel on snowshoes, guided by trees which he had marked the previous autumn.”

On 1 Jan 1784 when Amos was 21, he married Mary Knowlton.149 Born on 15 Dec 1763.149 Mary died in Marlborough, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, on 21 Jun 1819; she was 55. Buried in Meeting House Cemetery, Marlborough.
