Col. Charles Turner was engaged in public business of various kinds for more than half a century. His urbanity, readiness, accuracy and facility in doing business, made him a favorite of all classes. He was a Justice of the Peace throughout the commonwealth, several years a member of both branches of the Mass. Legislature, five years a member of Congress of the United States, and fourteen years steward of the marine Hospital in Chelsea.

On 21 Sep 1789 when Charles was 29, he married Hannah Jacobs (56672) , daughter of Col. John Jacob (52152) (23 May 1735-7 Feb 1817) & Hannah Tolman (43116) (18 Dec 1738-20 Aug 1826), in the Second Church of Scituate.52 Born on 4 Apr 1763 in Scituate, MA.52 Hannah died in Scituate, MA in Oct 1843.
