    John was a Captain in the Militia, and an officer in the French War. He was at Quebec in 1759. He married in 1752 Jerusha Bailey, who was born in 1736, and lived in Scituate. He was but 20 years of age and his wife but 16 at the time of marriage. He was the only member of his family who married.
On 8 Aug 1752 when John was 19, he married Jerusha Bailey (32080) , daughter of Benjamin Bailey (29894) (28 Feb 1712-between 28 May and 15 Sep 1770) & Ruth Tilden (14831) (20 May 1716-31 Mar 1755), in First Parish Church of Scituate.52 Born ca 1736 in Scituate, MA. Jerusha was baptized in First Parish Church of Scituate, on 9 May 1736.52 Marriage intention published on 8 Aug 1752 at Scituate, MA.52
